Educate Yourself – A Project by As Vanilla Madagascar
In the SAVA region, where most of the world’s vanilla is grown, libraries and book-reading facilities are strikingly scarce. Sambava and the surrounding districts count only a handful of public reading spaces, leaving rural communities—where vanilla farmers live and work—without access to books, study rooms, or learning resources. This lack of opportunity creates a deep paradox: while vanilla is celebrated globally as a luxury, the very communities producing it often lack the tools to build brighter futures
Our Solution
Through this initiative, As Vanilla Madagascar seeks to change that reality. By building libraries in rural villages and turning them into vibrant learning hubs, we aim to bring knowledge directly to the communities that need it most. Each library will not only offer books but also host workshops to give children and adults essential skills: learning English, sewing, digital literacy, and teacher support programs to strengthen local education.
Our Goals
Short-term goal:
Complete our first rural library in Andranomadio (Commune Rurale: Anjangoveratra, District: Sambava, Region: SAVA) by the end of 2026.
Long-term goal:
Expand across the SAVA region, building a network of rural libraries that empower communities, support education, and unlock opportunities for generations to come.
